Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures 1 Corinthians 15:3 |
|
Many people think that they cannot have the assurance of going to Heaven. They think they must “die and then find out.” According to the Bible, however, you can know that you will one day go to Heaven.
1. Understand your condition with God.
"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:23)
"There is none righteous, no not one." (Romans 3:10)
Each person has sinned against the Lord. Sin offends God; sin and sinners cannot enter God’s presence or His Heaven. Your sin separates you from God and prevents you from going to His Heaven.
The Bible also says there is a penalty for sin. "For the wages of sin is death..." (Romans 6:23) This death is described in Revelation 20:11-15, which says all unsaved people are cast into the “lake of fire.”
The Bible makes it clear: your sin will send you to a Christ-less eternity in Hell.
2. Understand that Jesus Christ is your only way to Heaven.
"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." (John 14:6)
"But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8)
Jesus Christ suffered and died for you on a cross. He satisfied God's required penalty for sinners ("The wages of sin is death," Romans 6:23).
God the Father did not require sinners in Jesus' time to do religious deeds to be forgiven. Nor does He require sinners today to fulfill religious rules or "be good from now on" to go to heaven. As the Hawaiian phrase goes, "Pau hana!" Work is done! The Bible says, "Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us." (Titus 3:5). Salvation (being saved from sin's penalty, forgiven of all sins, being "clean" in God's eyes) comes by faith in Jesus Christ. "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." (Ephesians 2:8,9)
3. Now it's your choice. Trust Jesus Christ to save you.
The Bible says, “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name." (John 1:12)
Receiving Christ as your Savior means you will stop trying "to be good" to go to Heaven. Rather, you will trust the Lord Jesus Christ to save you.
You can receive the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior. In your own words, sincerely from your heart…
• Admit to God that you are a sinner in need of forgiveness, mercy and salvation.
• Ask the Lord Jesus Christ to save you.
The Bible says, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:13)
The result of calling on the Lord (receiving Christ) is that you are "saved." Saved, to not go to Hell at death. Saved, to go to Heaven at death.
God knows your heart. If you received the Lord as your Savior, His Word says you have been given "eternal life." (John 10:28) You can say that you are "going to heaven!"
Let us know if you received the Lord as your Savior. We'd like to help you grow as a Christian.
